Pink shrimp:

Primarily caught off the west coast of Florida, these shrimp are extremely popular as a seafood dish. As the name suggests, these shrimps are pink in color and of course they are also found in white and gray. The size of these shrimps is relatively smaller and they are also called salad shrimps because they are used in shrimp salads because of their mild and sweet taste.

Brown shrimp:

They have a firm texture and a reddish-brown skin and different flavors from sweet to salty. After cooking, they turn pink and have a unique flavor compared to other edible shrimps. Chefs mostly steam brown shrimps so that customers can enjoy the natural flavor of these shrimps.

White shrimp:

White shrimps are about 20 cm long, have a firm texture, and chefs use them to cook a wide variety of dishes. For example, white shrimp can be boiled, steamed, stuffed, grilled, baked, or even fried. There are three main types: Chinese white shrimp, Gulf white and white shrimp. They are preferred by many cooks due to their classic flavor, firm texture, sweet taste and easy cleaning

Rock shrimp:

They are called this because of their hard shell. In the late 1960s, a special machine was designed to peel the hard shells of shrimp before selling them. They have a firm texture and a sweet flavor similar to spiny crab. This flavor makes them an affordable protein compared to expensive types of lobster.

tiger shrimp:

Tiger shrimp is native to the waters of Asia and Africa, but they are also cultivated in Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and India. This type of shrimp is recognized by the tiger-like stripes on the body, and they are noted for their pleasant flavor and firm texture. They can grow up to 30 cm and are ideal for steaming, grilling and eating in other ways.

Spotted shrimp:

Because they are similar to lobsters in terms of shape and color, they are also called "Alaskan lobsters" and have a sweet taste and a very delicate texture and are colorful. They are great for cooking and have a wonderfully soft and juicy taste, but they are difficult to clean because the skins will break into small pieces and crumble if you are not careful. This shrimp can grow up to 30 cm.

Types of freshwater shrimp for aquarium:

Everyone loves to eat shrimp, whether it's in seafood, salad, soup, shrimp cocktail, or even fried. But not everyone knows that there are certain species of shrimps that give exquisite beauty to the aquarium. If you have an aquarium and are looking for new aquariums to keep, take a look at the following list and types of freshwater shrimp. And if you don't own an aquarium yet, looking at this list can inspire you to have an aquarium.

Bee or striped shrimp:

This exclusive species originated from southern China and is somewhat similar to a bee due to its yellow or white body with black stripes. Bee shrimp are from the Caridinaabbreviate family and should not be confused with the Bee Shrim, which is from the Caridinacantonensis family.

This species feeds on marine scraps such as small pieces of fish. To help them reproduce, keep them in pairs and carefully monitor the concentration of nitrite, iodine and copper in the water. Before you transfer them to the aquarium, make sure that there are no large aggressive fish because bumblebee shrimp are easily eaten by predators due to their small size.

Red cherry shrimp:

This type of Neocaridinadavidi species may not seem very different at first, but because of its bright color and show, many aquarists and aquarists choose it. This shrimp grows in fresh water, at room temperature or slightly cool (18 to 28 degrees Celsius). Higher temperature makes the reproduction of imami slow and can also be dangerous because the concentration of oxygen in warm water decreases.

Cherry shrimp are peaceful creatures and behave well in society. They are omnivores by nature and like to feed on algae and other food left by other fish in the aquarium. You can give them fish food as a supplementary diet.

Blue tiger shrimp:

Tiger shrimp, or more precisely blue tiger shrimp, is a blue type of the Caridinacantonensis shrimp family, which is about 2 to 4 cm long when mature. These shrimps are characterized by distinctive blue stripes on their bodies and prominent bright orange eyes.

Blue tiger shrimp thrive in fresh water that has a neutral pH level, but can grow just as well in slightly acidic conditions (pH around six). This species attracts a lot of attention along with all kinds of plants and the green color of the aquarium, but keep in mind that although it is not difficult to maintain them, the maintenance of blue tiger shrimps is not as easy as the maintenance of cherry red shrimps.

A blue tiger shrimp aquarium should be cleaned weekly (or at most every other week). Because maintaining a proper pH level is as important as a proper diet. Since it is omnivorous, you can feed them with fish food, both vegetable and meat, but if you do this too much, the level of nitrite and ammonia in the water will rise and it can be dangerous for these shrimps.

Twisted blue shrimp:

This species belongs to the Caridinacantonensis family and its other name is Taiwan honey bee. Originating from southern China, blue curled shrimps are not available at all local fishmongers, but if you are really interested, you can order them from online stores.

As the name suggests, this type of shrimp has a light blue head that gradually changes to bluish white or pale blue near the tail. Due to its impressive color, it makes these shrimps a prominent aquatic in the aquarium because compared to the green plants and other colorful pebbles in the aquarium, this shrimp is quite prominent and beautiful. Twisted blue shrimp are related to the blue tiger shrimp and require the same care, including frequent water cleaning and careful feeding.

Snowflake Shrimp:

The white eggs of this shrimp look like snowballs. If you are new to setting up an aquarium, snowball shrimp are a great choice because they can be kept in large numbers and in different water conditions such as hard water. But be aware that overfeeding them changes the water quality and can lead to health issues for the shrimp.

Clean water with a pH of six and a half to eight is necessary for their healthy survival. Although they are omnivores, most of them like to eat algae and hence they are a good choice for controlling algae in aquariums. Snowball shrimp reproduce quickly and can be seen swimming around in the aquarium if they are safe from predators.

Crystal shrimp:

They have a common ancestor with the honey bee shrimp (Caridinacantonensis). This type of shrimp is cultivated for ornamental use. There are two types of crystal shrimp: red crystal shrimp and black crystal shrimp. Both species have similar maintenance requirements and are similar in nature, except that they are different in color.

But the main feature of red crystal shrimp is that it has red and white stripes, while other species have stripes of one color. Caring for this type of shrimp in a home aquarium is relatively difficult because the water must be very pure for them to grow and you must decorate the aquarium in such a way that there are enough hiding places for the crystal shrimp to hide.

Because they do not like to swim freely in the water and be visible. If you want to keep this shrimp in an aquarium with other aquatic animals, the other inhabitants of the aquarium should have a peaceful nature, otherwise, you should keep the crystal shrimp separately because they easily prey on other aquatic animals.

Glass shrimp or ghost shrimp:

Ghost shrimp, also called glass shrimp, belongs to the Palaemonetes family. Nothing describes them better than their name, their transparent body gives them a glass shape. These transparent shrimps are protected from predators by the characteristic that they can see through them.

This species is kept alone or in groups. Keeping a significant number of glass shrimp in an aquarium is a smart choice as these tiny creatures are very useful in keeping it clean. Ghost shrimp not only eats leftover pieces of fish food but also algal stains.

Keeping this type of shrimp is very easy and they live well even in small aquariums that have a capacity of only five gallons. Glass shrimp live for about a year and are about one and a half centimeters long when mature. Like most other types of shrimp, their diet is omnivorous, consuming both meat and plant foods alike. Glass shrimp love to hide in corners. Therefore, you must have suitable decorations for their life in your aquarium.

Caridina Babauti shrimp:

If you like to have multi-colored and colorful shrimp in your aquarium, Caridina Babauti shrimp is your best choice. The reason is that this type of shrimp has colorful red, brown, green, and yellow varieties, as well as a monochromatic and zebra-like species. It is very easy to take care of babamulti shrimps, but they tend to feed on decaying plant material in aquariums rather than eating meat. Despite its low needs and easy care, space must be provided for their growth: good filtration, balanced pH level, stable temperature and controlled level of ammonia and nitrites.

King Kong Black Panda Shrimp:

Their incredibly beautiful black and white stripes add a lot of beauty and brilliance to the aquarium, but they do not have a long life and therefore are not a good choice for beginners. Panda shrimp is from the Caridinacantonensis family. This species is sensitive to water changes, so it is better to keep them in large aquariums because it is easy to control water temperature fluctuations in those conditions. Panda shrimps are herbivores but you have to be very careful with their feeding because too much food can be harmful to their health or even fatal in some cases.
